Dr. Michael A. Hochman, a native of Urbana, Illinois, is a board certified ophthalmologist and a highly skilled retina specialist with over 25 years of experience. He graduated from University of Illinois in Urbana and Chicago’s University of Illinois College of Medicine. He moved to Laredo in 1999. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Hochman has passion for his profession and cares about his patients. He has provided free eye care to numerous people throughout the years. His patients trust his expertise. Apart from his years of experience, training, and knowledge that drives his profession, Dr. Michael A. Hochman has demonstrated a true commitment to the community. In 1999, Dr. Hochman created the Rochelle and Sidney Hochman Teacher’s Assistance Grant. In twenty years he has donated over 800 grants to Laredo public school teachers.
Yearly, Dr. Hochman offers his professional and surgical services to the Mercy Ministries Charity Clinic to support the eye health of patients most in need. He also supports Habitat for Humanity, Casa Misericordia, Texas School for the Deaf, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Laredo, Bethany House, and Eye Care America.
Dr. Hochman offers state of the art treatments for many eye diseases. He performs surgical and laser procedures at his fully accredited, high quality on-site surgery center, Laredo Laser & Surgery located at 5313 McPherson Road. Treatments include outpatient surgeries for cataracts and glaucoma, laser treatments for diabetes, secondary cataracts, glaucoma and retinal bleeding, and surgery for diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment. He is the only doctor practicing and operating in Laredo that can perform many of these advanced techniques, through extensive training, study, and certification. He has performed more than 25,000 surgical procedures throughout his career in his effort to preserve the vision of Laredoans.
