Dr. Michael A. Hochman has been serving the community of Laredo for over twenty years. He is a native of Urbana, Illinois and a board-certified ophthalmologist and a retina eye specialist with over twenty-five years of experience. Dr. Hochman is an active fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
Apart from his years of experience, specialized training, and the knowledge and passion that drive his profession, Dr. Michael A. Hochman has demonstrated a true commitment to education in the community. He has been doing his part to ensure teachers feel appreciated and students are encouraged to do their best while in the classroom.
Dr. Michael A. Hochman has provided support to hundreds of teachers and even more children for over twenty years. In 1999, Dr. Hochman established the Rochelle and Sidney Hochman Education Support Grant to help support local teachers from both districts, Laredo and United Independent School District. The grants support teachers to provide additional resources in their classrooms, thus providing a more enriching learning experience for Laredo school children. Dr. Hochman wants students to have the best education and is doing his part to make that happen.
His most recent endeavor is the kick off of his new program, Glasses for Classes. This initiative emerged from Dr. Hochman’s desire to help families who cannot afford to pay for eye exams or buy their children glasses to help correct their vision. “The teachers are already doing a lot, so it is a perfect way for me to help the schools by providing free examinations and free glasses for some of the children in our community,” said Dr. Hochman.
